Your Yoga Studio
All yoga classes are held in the studio, a large, light-filled space located on the 2nd floor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on 3rd Avenue in Bethlehem. The studio is filled with all the props you will need to support you in your practice (blocks, blankets, straps, etc). However, to practice the yoga niyama (observance) of saucha (cleanliness, purity) please bring your own sticky mat (they are available for purchase at the studio).

Your Yoga Classes
Because we are all so busy and lead lives that require a lot of our attention to be focused outward, all yoga classes begin with a seated centering. Here, we begin to go inward (pratyahara) and reconnect to ourselves. Classes then progress to yoga asanas (poses) which may include: sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, backbends, forward bends, twists and inversions. During each class we learn how to balance the effort (abhyasa) of our practice with the letting go (vairagya) of tensions in the body. A period of deep relaxation (savasana) at the end of each class allows students to integrate their practice and discover their true nature, which is to be at peace.
Your Yoga Teachers
Holly Walck has been a student of yoga since 1997 and teaching in the Lehigh Valley since 2002. She is the director and principal teacher at Jai Yoga! in Bethlehem, which she founded in 2004 with the intention of sharing the practice of Iyengar Yoga with the community. Her classes are holistic, incorporating the physical, emotional and spiritual within the framework of classical Yoga. She is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher.
Holly studies regularly at weekly classes, workshops and teacher training with senior teachers in the Iyengar method. Her primary teachers are Patricia Walden of Cambridge, MA and Carrie Owerko of New York. Holly is grateful to Greg Anton of Provincetown, MA, whose own practice inspired hers to take root. From 2005-2009, Holly apprenticed with and assisted Joan White at the BKS Iyengar Yoga School of Central Philadelphia. She has had the great good fortune to study with Geeta Iyengar, both in the US and abroad.
Those who know Holly are aware of her deep dedication to her own personal practice. Yoga is, for her, a path of transformation and freedom.

Ron Minnich, B.S. in Ed., took to yoga like a fish to water. He began a regular home practice immediately, simply because his teacher told him to go home and do the poses he remembered doing in class. He is dedicated to learning about himself through the path of ashta-anga (8-limbed) yoga. Ron's primary teacher is Holly Walck, whom he began studying with in 2005. He is a member of IYNAUS and has had the opportunity to advance his studies with Joan White and Patricia Walden. He participated in an Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Preparation Workshop with Joan White in the Spring of 2008 at Jai Yoga! and has since begun his studies to become a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with Joan White at the Iyengar Yoga School of Central Philadelphia's Teacher Training Program. Yoga has revealed for Ron, the path by which one can manage ones physical and emotional pressures. |
